Astrophysics is a tier 3 Science skill in Starfield with 4 ranks. Its tier unlocks after 8 skill points are spent on the lower Science tiers. Ranks 2 through 4 each need a challenge completed before they can be bought.

Rank 2
Astrophysics

You can scan any planet or moon in this system. You have a 20% chance to discover a trait when scanning.

Rank 3
Astrophysics

You can scan any planet or moon within 16 Light Years. You have a 30% chance to discover a trait when scanning.

Rank 4
Astrophysics

You can scan any planet or moon within 30 Light Years. You have a 50% chance to discover a trait when scanning.

Challenges

Rank 1: Scan 10 unique planets or moons.
Rank 2: Scan 25 unique planets or moons.
